What personal data we collect and why
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collate the data given on the comment forms, in addition to the visitor’s IP address and the browser user’s chain of agents to help detect spam.
An anonymous chain created from your email address (also known as ‘hash’) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. For the Gravatar service privacy policy, see: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Following approval of your comment, your profile photo is visible to the public next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the site, avoid using images with location data (GPS EXIF) attached. Site visitors can download and extract localization data from website images.

Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your own comfort: the next time you leave a comment, you will not need to complete your details again. These cookies last for one year.
If you have an account and connect to this site, we will upload a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is eliminated when the browser closes.
When you start a session, we will also install several cookies to save your log-in details and your screen display options. The log-in cookies expire after two days, while the screen options last for a year. By selecting “Remember Me”, the log-in will last for two weeks. When you exit your account, log-in cookies are eliminated.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored on your browser. This cookie contains no personal data, it merely gives the ID of the article just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
The articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if the visitor has accessed that other site.
These sites may collate data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party follow-up, or supervise your interaction with this embedded content (including monitoring your interaction with the embedded content, if you have an account and are connected to that site).

Who we share your data with
How long we keep your data
If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata will be kept indefinitely. This allows us to recognise and approve subsequent comments automatically, rather than keeping them in a moderation queue.
We also store the personal data given in the user profile by users who register on our website (if they should do so). Any user can see, edit or eliminate their personal data at any time; however, the username cannot be changed. The site administrators can also see and edit this information.
Your rights over the data provided
If you have an account or have left comments on this site, you can request an export file containing the personal data we have for you, including any and all data you have provided. Equally, you may request we eliminate any personal data of yours in our possession. However, this does not include any data we are required to retain for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be reviewed by an automatic spam detector.
